Buchanan backs Reid link-up

Image: David Buchanan: Has good understanding with Reid

David Buchanan believes he and Kyel Reid can forge an excellent understanding down the left-hand side for Preston.

Neither full-back Buchanan or winger Reid began the season as starters for North End, but the two linked up excellently in the 3-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Port Vale last week to perhaps give a glimpse of the future. "It was very good," said Buchanan. "First half it was really enjoyable, we linked up well. "I've played with him a couple of times during the season when we had a couple of bounce games. That's good to get an understanding. "The thing with Reidy's attributes are he's very, very quick. He's quick with the ball and without the ball so he's always going to give full-backs a problem. "Every time I got the ball, I tried to give it him because when he gets it you can see what he can do. "He creates the first goal and he's just an intelligent player; I thought we linked up really well." Reid is one of a number of Preston players who has now fully recovered from injury, with John Welsh and Lee Holmes also appearing in the team's last match prior to the international break On the back of four straight wins in all competitions, Buchanan is confident those coming off the treatment table can help Simon Grayson's side continue their purple patch. He added: "They're top-drawer players at this level; It just goes to show what a good squad we've got. "We're all together and whoever comes in they're all part of the group and it's just about winning football matches. The lads that came in came out with some credit."
