Northampton striker Alex Nicholls has extended his loan spell at Exeter for a second month.

Nicholls has returned to action this season after missing almost two years with a broken leg and has scored once in four appearances for the Grecians. The Cobblers have a 24-hour recall option on Nicholls during this second month. "We've extended the loan for a second month and that will be good for Alex and good for us as well," manager Chris Wilder told the official site. "He has got better with every game and he obviously got himself on the scoresheet and is starting to do really well for Exeter. "We're doing okay here and I always said that we wanted him to go and get a good batch of games in. "It's a good club for him, they play in a way that suits Alex and hopefully he'll kick himself on in the next month and we'll assess things then. "The good thing about the second month is that we can pull him back with a 24-hour recall. "You don't have that in the first 28 days but we had it with Dean (Snedker) and it's a good option to have."
