Gary Johnson hailed match-winner Joel Grant after Yeovil secured their first home win of the season with a 1-0 win over Peterborough.

The Jamaican started only his second Glovers fixture since recovering from a foot injury sustained in pre-season and scored a stunning solo effort with just three minutes left. It looked as though Yeovil's winless home streak, which started in March, was going to be extended against Posh but the lively winger came up trumps in the dying stages. He picked the ball up on the right before jinking one way and then the other and kept a cool head to slot past Ben Alnwick. Former Peterborough manager Johnson said: "It was a super goal and that's his skill, he is a very good dribbler and it was a real fitting finish to a fantastic performance. "He has got to make sure he is in that team and putting in that work rate. He has got a lot of ability, but he just needed a little bit more fitness and work ethic when he came to us. "Everybody in that team affected the game and everybody put in that 100 per cent that was needed to win the match. "I have known that over the weeks we were only one goal from where we could be. "I thought we showed our home games that they have got something that they can really look forward to. We haven't seen that at home yet, and as Louis Van Gaal said, that was a great new start to our home form." Yeovil dominated proceedings, but Peterborough thought they had scored when Marcus Maddison's long-range effort struck the crossbar and bounced on the line. Manager Darren Ferguson bemoaned the officials' decision on that occasion, as well as his side's recent knack for conceding late goals. He said: "We have lost three games this season after 86 minutes which is a bad habit, but I thought in the second half we were poor. "You think we'll take the point and move on but that was a poor goal to lose. It was poor defending, he just walked through us, it was good skill by the boy but we should have defended better - it was one of those days. "Maddison's shot is in by two yards but they have got it wrong. I thought the ref was very, very poor but you hope common sense eventually comes into it. "He has missed a real vital decision and the tackle on Maddison when he was through could have broken his leg. "I thought we were poor in possession and the risk you run is losing a late goal, but Yeovil played well in the second half."
