Dickov disappointed by draw

Paul Dickov claimed there was only one side trying to win the game after Doncaster failed to end their poor home run against Crawley.

Town's dogged defence earned them a valuable away point. Rovers attacked for most of the match but seldom looked like scoring as they stretched their luckless run to eight games without a victory at the Keepmoat Stadium. Crawley were content to sit back and try and hit their opponents on the break but they rarely threatened and home goalkeeper Jed Steer never had a shot to save. Ritchie Wellens and James Coppinger both went close for Doncaster in the early stages but the home side flattered to deceive and they lacked quality and penetration in attack. Theo Robinson had a close-range header superbly saved by Jamie Ashdown in a frantic finish as the visitors held on to earn a share of the points. Dickov said " I think they set their stall out and came for a point, which is fair enough. "The onus is on us to try and break them down and win it and I'm disappointed we didn't take all three points. "It needed a fantastic save by their goalkeeper to keep us out when we threw everything at them in the closing stages. "We conceded five goals in the last two games so it's great to keep a clean sheet but how we didn't go on to win I don't know. "There were times when we should have scored and done better but at least we were brave and went about it the right way. "We can still be better but if we continue to believe in each other we will be alright." Crawley boss John Gregory was pleased with how his side stood up to some intense Doncaster pressure. He said " Doncaster are no mugs. They have just come down from the Championship and I'm delighted to have come here and got something. "I thought we did really well to get to the last few minutes before Doncaster put us under a lot of pressure because I don't really think they looked like scoring before that. "Jamie Ashdown did really well to keep out that header right at the death but I thought we were worth a point. "It's our first draw of the season and I'll take that. It's a good point. "They threw everything at us at the finish but we kept them out and that will give us confidence. "I made one or two changes and it's good to have healthy competition for places and keep everyone on their toes."
