Pym pride at England chance

Image: Christy Pym: Relished England experience

Exeter goalkeeper Christy Pym enjoyed the experience of facing the likes of Wayne Rooney just 24 hours before taking on Mansfield.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper was preparing for England Under-20s' clash with Romania at St George's Park when he was given the chance to train with the senior squad on Friday. And a whirlwind few hours continued for Pym when he made his Under-20s bow for the final 11 minutes against the Romanians on Friday night and then raced back to Devon to play 90 against the Stags. "Ben Foster had broken his thumb and Roy Hodgson wanted another goalkeeper to join in with training and I was asked if I'd like to do it," he told the Western Morning News. "Obviously I am going to say yes when I get that sort of opportunity. "It was great to train with them and see what Joe Hart is all about. It was great to chat to Joe and Fraser Forster was there as well. "We did a goalkeeping session for 40 minutes at the start and then some crossing and finishing, so it was good to get that experience and see the level I want to get to. "I had the likes of Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck shooting at me, which was a little bit weird! But, no, it was very good."
