Walsall boss Dean Smith has warned managerless Crystal Palace the Saddlers are ready to add to their woes.
Smith is targeting a shock in his side's Capital One Cup showdown at the Banks's Stadium on Tuesday. Palace are still without a boss after Tony Pulis quit two days before the start of the Barclays Premier League season with caretaker-manager Keith Millen expected to be control again. Glenn Hoddle rejected the chance to join the club, while Malky Mackay was poised to be appointed before misconduct allegations from his former club Cardiff were revealed. Smith said: "I think when the draw came out Tony Pulis saw it was Walsall and it scared him off! "He did so well there last year, but something may have gone on between Tony and someone at the club and Keith Millen has had to steady the ship. "As long as their application and attitude is right they should beat us, but this is a one-off cup game and we're looking forward to playing - and playing well. "A win would reinforce everything we're doing. "I'm excited by the calibre of players we have and once we have everyone fit I'll have the strongest squad I've ever had."
