Gillingham have dropped their interest in extending full-back Gary Borrowdale's stay at the club.
The 29-year-old spent the second half of last term on loan at Priestfield Stadium from Margate but did not experience any first-team action and failed to make enough of an impression in recent pre-season games to warrant a full-time deal. "He's done very well, lost weight every week and looked fitter every week," commented Gills boss Peter Taylor on the club's official website. "I just don't think he's ready for League One football, especially considering if we have to play Saturday and Tuesday - as a result I have decided to let him go." Taylor is still keen to bolster his full-back options, though, with Matt Fish carrying a knee injury.
