Colchester bag four in friendly

Image: Freddie Sears: Amongst the goals

Colchester's pre-season goal-fest continued as they beat AFC Sudbury 4-1 on Thursday night.

The U's have now scored 16 goals in just three friendlies as they prepare for the upcoming season, although they were made to work harder for victory than in their previous games. After a frustrating opening half hour, Freddie Sears put Colchester ahead from the penalty spot which was quickly followed by a superb finish from Drey Wright, who cut in from the wing to curl the ball into the top corner. Half-time brought about a complete change in the line-up, with 11 changes made, and they were caught cold when Sudbury pulled one back from a corner through Oliver Hughes. However goals from Sammie Szmodics and Dan Holman closed the game out for the League One side, who next face Leiston on Saturday.
