Edwards pleased with duo

Tranmere manager Rob Edwards has expressed his excitement at the club's signings as his squad prepare to return for pre-season training.

Marcus Holness and Kayode Odejayi are the most recent players to arrive at Prenton Park, on two and one-year deals respectively. Edwards believes Odejayi will "be a good foil" in attack. Edwards told the club's website: "I've known Kay for a long time. He's a big, powerful striker but very mobile for his size. He's athletic and I'm keen on having athletic players in the side. "Because of the level we're at we needed some presence at the front of the team and Kay will bring that in. I think he'll be a good foil for the other strikers at the club. "I don't just want to kick the ball up to the big fella, he's up there because of his mobility. There are times we'll need his size, but there's more to his game than just whacking the ball at him. "We've got players at the club who don't want to play that way and I don't want to play that way. On Holness he added: "Marcus is a strong defender. He played in one of the best back fours in the division at Burton and he knows how to keep clean sheets. "He's played in League One and I think he's a player who has got a lot of development in him. He's a leader on the pitch and a real presence."
