Burton have confirmed that midfielder Robbie Weir has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

Weir was set to be out of contract at the end of this month but the midfielder will now remain at the Pirelli Stadium until the summer of 2016. The 25-year-old was instrumental last season as Albion reached the League Two play-off final at Wembley, making 50 appearances in all competitions and captaining the team on several occasions. Burton boss Gary Rowett said: "We're really pleased that Robbie has decided to sign for two more years. "We were always confident the deal would be done and keeping him is a massive bonus for us. "We now have four very good central midfielders at the club and I think we'll be very strong in that area next season. "Most of the squad is in place, which is something we wanted to achieve and now for us it's about sorting out those last couple of deals as we look towards pre-season in a very good position."
