York have completed the signing of former Southend winger Anthony Straker on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old, a free agent after running down his contract at Roots Hall, is the Minstermen's fifth summer signing. Straker told York's official website: "For me the decision to join the club isn't one I could really turn down, especially after seeing how York finished in the league last year getting to the play-offs when I was with Southend. "It's a great chance for me to start a new chapter and I couldn't turn it down. "I hope to show people what I am capable of doing, using my pace and getting at defenders and hopefully doing well." Straker, who can also play in defence, scored six goals in 47 appearances for Southend last season. The winger has also made eight appearances for Granada's national team.
