Burton boss Gary Rowett remained upbeat after side's 1-0 loss at Southend as he prepares to face the them again in the play-offs.
Barry Corr's fifth goal in six games separated the two teams. In a game of few chances, the Irishman bagged his 13th goal of the season when he headed home Kevan Hurst's excellent cross from eight yards. Burton then almost bagged a late equaliser when Chris Hussey's long range free-kick was tipped over by Daniel Bentley who secured his 20th clean sheet of the season. "The best thing for me is that was Southend's strongest side and we know we will be a lot stronger in the play-offs with the number of players coming back into the team," said Rowett. "I used this match to see how Southend would play and we've learnt a lot from this game which I'm happy about. If I'm honest playing away from home in the second leg is what I wanted regardless of what team we were playing. "I'm not arrogant enough to pick a team but I believe our style of football will suit us playing away in the second leg and putting pressure on the home team. "But my only real disappointment was the goal we gave away because it was poor from our point of view."
