Bentley delighted with late show

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley admitted he was thankful for the six extra minutes and praised his side for taking full advantage.

Jack Sampson's goal four minutes into injury time denied league leaders Scunthorpe the three points, after they had led since Sam Winnall's strike in the 22nd minute. The point keeps the Shrimps three points above the relegation zone with three games left, and Bentley was thrilled with his side's perseverance. He said: "We have proved time and time again that we have a great spirit and I thought we were tremendous today, especially in the second half. "I thought we were excellent in the second half and caused them a lot of problems. Their keeper made two superb saves and we had a goal disallowed for an earlier handball and that could have flattened us. "But we kept going against a really good side and I don't think anyone can say we didn't deserve the point. "It took us a step closer to safety and if we can continue to play like that in the next couple of games then we will be okay."
