Whittingham: Crawley are safe

First-team coach Guy Whittingham feels Crawley have done enough to ensure survival after their 2-0 win over struggling Tranmere.

The Red Devils' second successive win puts them on 52 points while Rovers remain three points above the drop zone with four games remaining. Crawley have put together a brace of wins following a six-match losing streak and asked whether he felt Crawley were safe now, Whittingham replied: "I would certainly think so. "It's huge fillip but all credit to the players, they have done fantastically well to turn it round." Crawley finished 10th in their first season in League One last season and Whittingham added: "We are always looking to improve. "To be honest we have played better but it about winning games. We have five to go and we need to win as many as we can." Whittingham had special praise for keeper Paul Jones on his 100th consecutive appearance. Whittingham felt Jones had come back strongly after recent blunders and added: "We are really pleased for him. "He's come back strongely and kept us in the game with two very important saves."
