Steven Pressley was at a loss to explain how Coventry left London Road empty-handed after seeing them lose 1-0 to Peterborough.
Posh full-back Kgosi Ntlhe's early strike settled a game of little goalmouth incident as two of the hottest striking properties in Sky Bet League One - Posh's Britt Assombalonga and Callum Wilson of Coventry - both drew a blank.
South Africa international Nthle planted a powerful header from Danny Swanson's perfectly-placed right-wing corner past Coventry goalkeeper Joe Murphy to claim his third goal of the season and earn a second home success in the space of five days.
Pressley said: "I'm struggling to work out how we got nothing from the game.
"The opening 20 minutes were disappointing from our respect and the confidence of the lads was dented by falling behind during that spell.
"Again we conceded from a set piece and again that comes down to one player not taking the responsibility for his job.
"But we grew into the game, got control of it in the remainder of the first half and we were dominant throughout the second period when my goalkeeper only had one save to make.
"We had three or four unbelievable chances to get a goal, but we didn't have the quality to do so.
"Our overall performance was worthy of a minimum of one point, if not all three."
Peterborough can count themselves fortunate to have preserved their advantage after conceding the initiative when Swanson was forced out of the action in the first half due to an ankle injury.
Cyrus Christie squandered a golden chance to haul the visitor level when heading wide from a free-kick late in the first half.
Christie then turned provider to release loan striker Nathan Eccleston 10 minutes after the restart, but the forward failed to open his Sky Blues account by slicing wide from 12 yards.
There was another scare for Posh when Coventry top-scorer Wilson almost took advantage of a mix-up between Posh defender Ben Nugent and goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik, only for Nugent to recover in time to clear.
