Flitcroft: Point well deserved

David Flitcroft felt his side were full value for a point after striking late to earn a 2-2 draw at promotion-chasing Scunthorpe.

The Iron looked set for all three points after leading twice in the second half courtesy of goals from Paddy Madden and substitute Paul Hayes. But fast-improving Bury battled back for a point through a Tom Soares header and a last-gasp equaliser from substitute Danny Rose. "If we had been leaving here empty-handed I would have had so much angst to grind," said Flitcroft. "We certainly deserved a point and for 70 minutes I thought we were the better side. "My players are out on their feet because they have put so much energy into this game. "They have put in an incredible shift for this club and in fact on the chances that were created and dominance we enjoyed, I think we deserved to win it. "Scunthorpe have not gone unbeaten for 26 games without being a good team. "They play a high tempo game but I don't think they could handle our energy. "The equaliser from Danny Rose was no more than we deserved."
