Yates fury at 'pathetic' Robins

Cheltenham's players were labelled as pathetic by angry boss Mark Yates after they conceded two goals to lose 2-1 to Southend.

Southend created the better chances before the break but it was Byron Harrison who handed Cheltenham the lead with a well-struck 20-yard effort. Substitute Barry Corr levelled in the 64th minute with Kevan Hurst scoring the winner just three minutes later. Substitute Zack Kotwica almost salvaged a point for the home side late on but was denied by a decent save. Yates said: "It is about having a bit of steel about you, about standing up. We buckled and stopped doing our job for 10 minutes. "It was pathetic from the players and I'm really angry with them. "We were the better team in the first half and I was really pleased. But David [Noble] comes off early in the second half which was a blow to us because we stopped having that pass. "Then we did the basics of defending wrong - and I don't just mean the back four. "Maybe it is time to give one or two of the young kids a game - I can't wait for this season to end. I really want to get these next five games over and get some points. Get the players playing for a bit of pride."
