Mark Yates hailed his hard-working Cheltenham side after they racked up a seventh away win of the season at Hartlepool - two more than at home.
Jermaine McGlashan scored the only goal of the game at Hartlepool, turning in from close range with 16 minutes to go. Both the Robins and Pools are entrenched in mid-table, with no chance of the play-offs for either side. And for long periods it showed. The closest the visitors went to scoring before the goal came when David Noble curled a shot against the inside of the post. But it was some firm and organised defending kept Pools at arm's length. "I thought it was a really good game of football, two good teams trying to play the right way. I was pleased with many aspects of it," admitted Yeates. "We started with a midfield diamond and it works for Hartlepool. They were getting in there and we felt we needed to change. "There was some really outstanding performances and, at the end when we had taken the lead, some blocks when we needed them. "The players put things right that were wrong on Tuesday against Scunthorpe. There was a bit of everything there and the lads produced when it mattered." He added: "The performance was solid, hard-working, but really good at times. Both teams tried to play a bit, but we frustrated them when we changed the system around. "I thought they had a seven/eight minute spell in the second half which we saw out and coped with. "It was great, really pleasing overall."
