Jackson rant lifted Shrews

Mike Jackson's half-time rocket helped ensure an improved second-half display in Shrewsbury's 0-0 draw against Carlisle.

Carlisle were unlucky not to score in the opening minutes with on-loan Watford defender Reece Brown twice heading against the crossbar. However, substitute Aaron Wildig spurned the best chance of the game for Shrewsbury after the break when he failed to hit the target after being presented with an open goal six yards out. Jackson said: "It's the first time I have had to go in and say that it's not acceptable because I know we are better than that. "We rode our luck a bit and seemed to be lacking energy in a poor first half. Maybe it's playing Saturday, Tuesday that's crept up a little bit, I don't know, but I was not happy at all. "We didn't keep the ball enough in the second half but we came into it towards the end of the game. We had some good chances but it's our back four that got us the point. "We didn't do enough but I'm delighted to get a point. It's game on at the bottom now and we have had a good return from some of the games we have had recently. "I think both teams were nervous and lacking as bit of quality and it showed."
