Yates at a loss for words

Mark Yates was left scratching his head in bewilderment after Cheltenham lost 4-3 in a thrilling clash at AFC Wimbledon.

Jack Midson's winner for the hosts in the sixth minute of time added on was hard to take for Yates, whose side had led 2-0 in the second half after strikes from Troy Brown and Jermaine McGlashan. Three goals in three minutes from the Dons then turned the game on its head, Danny Hylton notching twice either side of Jake Nicholson's effort. Jason Taylor looked like he had rescued a point for the Robins, but Midson's late strike crushed their hopes and left Yates searching for answers. "I don't know how we managed to lose that match, but we did," he said. "It's probably our best performance of the season bar three goals in three minutes. I am fuming at that and it sums up our season. "We were outstanding and looked comfortable before their first. "It is baffling, crazy and to concede in the 96th minute with a cross that we didn't deal with and another ridiculous goal. "Our fans clapped us off at the end and it's hard to make sense of it because we were outstanding, but somehow we have lost. "We have gifted them goals and we needed to be stronger. "We'd have taken a point at 3-3, but to concede again sums us up. "There were lots of good things undone by three minutes of woeful defending. "The first goal was poor defending, the second was a deflection, but to concede the third, which again was self-inflicted, means I am stuck for words after what was nearly a decent performance."
