Brown laments lack of quality

Phil Brown feels Southend are lacking the quality they need in attack to get back to winning ways after a draw 0-0 with Bury.

In a game of few chances, Freddy Eastwood wasted the best chance when he fired over from close range The Shrimpers were have now not triumphed in 12 games in all competitions and Brown, whose side had striker Barry Corr sent off eight minutes from time, could well delve in to the transfer market to strengthen his options. "We've had 14 clean sheets now this season and with a record like that we should be top of the league not down in seventh," said Brown. "Our midfield is our strongest area and I think we just need to sort things out in the final third now. "We're lacking that bit of quality there at the moment and we gave Freddy Eastwood a go up there today. "If I was him I would be frustrated by the service I got but, at the same time, the Freddy of old would've taken the chances that came his way out there. "I think we've known Barry is the only striker we have who is capable of playing the number nine role but he's suspended now and I think it's likely we look at bringing in someone on loan. "It's another frustrating day though and it's crazy we're still in the play-offs." Corr was dismissed after an off the ball clash with Bury defender Frederic Veseli. And Brown is keen to review footage of the incident. "I spoke to the linesman and he said he thought Barry had head-butted their lad," said the Shrimpers boss. "I'm not sure if it was captured on camera but I'll certainly be reviewing it and seeing what actually happened."
