Alexander fumes after dismissal

Graham Alexander could not hide his frustration after Fleetwood were beaten 3-0 at Chesterfield where he was sent to the stands.

Alexander watched the last half an hour from the stands after being dismissed from the dug-out with the home side leading through Caolan Lavery, Sam Hird and Sam Morsy. Fleetwood started well but Chesterfield went ahead in the 31st minute when Gboly Ariyibi cut the ball back for Lavery to score from 12 yards. Fleetwood's hopes took a double blow when Hird bundled in the rebound after Fleetwood goalkeeper Chris Maxwell had parried Ian Evatt's header in the 42nd minute, while Sarcevic was shown two yellow cards for dissent in the space of 20 seconds. The visitors were finished off in the 63rd minute when Ariyibi picked out Morsy to drive in a low shot and Fleetwood's miserable afternoon was complete when Alexander was banished to the stands. "Our performance was okay when we were allowed to compete," Alexander said. "So our performance-competitive game lasted about 20 minutes for one reason or another. "There was one tackle on the touchline, which the crowd reacted to and from then on it wasn't a game of professional football because for a game of professional football you have to have two teams who are allowed to compete and that wasn't the case. "I really hope there were no Chesterfield players badly hurt because it was such a ferocious game, I'll have to speak to the animals that I manage because there were some horrendous tackles going in, apparently! "Then one of our players gets sent off for foul and abuse language and I get sent off for clapping, which I didn't realise was against the rules of football, but apparently it is. "That was something I haven't seen before, but what I am proud of is my players control. Sarc (Sarcevic) was frustrated, we were all frustrated at the official, so was I and so was everyone else." Chesterfield assistant manager Leam Richardson was pleased with the way his team ended a run of four defeats. "We responded well to the previous results and it was important we put a solid performance in and I thought we got that to a man. "Lavs (Lavery) worked really hard, that's what he's all about and he's been on loan to a couple of places and he's been on our radar for some time. "With more minutes and more game time you will see a lot more from him, he's a proven goalscorer as you've seen. "We are seventh in League One which is huge for our club. "We are quite realistic and we realise where we are punching from and at the minute the lads are not letting us down and are giving us everything they've got."
