Fleetwood showing pleases boss

Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander hopes his side can maintain their momentum following a 1-0 victory over Notts County.

Jamie Proctor's header on the stroke of half-time proved the difference between the two sides in a game of few clear-cut chances. The Cod Army have now won two from two in the league since their promotion via the play-offs last season and after holding off their hosts at Meadow Lane in the second half, Alexander is confident there is more to come. "I thought we were very good and the first half performance was as good as we've played for a long time," he said. "We passed the ball well, we mixed our game up and kept Notts County at arm's length. "We got the goal we deserved and it would have been harsh had we gone in at half-time 0-0. "We had to work hard to keep Notts County out in the second half. "I am not going to crow about the game plan just because we have won a game. "Every week, we work on shape and so on like every manager does in the build-up to a game. I didn't think it was easy, we had to work extremely hard to make it look like that. "If you step off that work rate and discipline then you cause yourself problems. Fortunately we didn't do that. "People say we've built momentum, but it's two games. We've pushed the ball and hopefully we will get it rolling for a few more weeks yet." Meanwhile, for Notts boss Shaun Derry it is back to the drawing board as his troops are still searching for their first win of the season. "The performance was really disappointing. We always wanted to back up the draw against Preston with a positive start at home," said Derry. "We didn't get that at all. None of the boys affected the game. I never felt we did the ugly side. We didn't get in people's faces and I never felt we caused them problems with the ball. "When you play matches in your career there are times when it doesn't go your way, but if it doesn't then you try to make sure it doesn't go in the opposition's favour also. "I didn't see that at all. The start was sluggish and we didn't seize the initiative to put them under pressure and make it difficult for them. "It was a very slow start and it enabled Fleetwood to get a foothold in the game and play at their pace. That's what really disappointed me about the performance. "We do have injuries, but I am not one for making excuses. There are other teams who have injury problems too."
