League Two club Rochdale have reluctantly accepted a transfer request from striker Bobby Grant.

The 22-year-old has told Dale manager Keith Hill he no longer wants to play for the club and appears to be heading out of Spotland less than 12 months after signing a two-year deal. A statement on the club's official website read: "Rochdale Football Club can confirm that we have received a transfer request from striker Bobby Grant. "The club have reluctantly accepted his request and his details will be circulated." Grant scored 18 goals during the 2009/10 season for Accrington and moved on to Scunthorpe for a fee in excess of £200,000 the following summer, but failed to settle at Glanford Park. He spent two months on loan with Rochdale last season and after briefly returning to Scunthorpe joined Dale for an undisclosed fee in August last year. He scored 16 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for the club last season. Hill said: "The club has reluctantly accepted Bobby's transfer request after he expressed his desire to leave during several meetings and phone conversations with myself. "While accepting Bobby's desire to leave, he is still under contract and the club reserves the right to a transfer fee."
