Barton backs Coventry promotion

New signing Adam Barton is aiming to put his injury woes behind him and help Coventry achieve promotion to the Championship.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who completed his move from Preston on Monday, penning a three-year deal at the Ricoh Arena, missed the final four months of last season with a dislocated ankle. He told the club's official website: "My injuries are behind me now and I am just happy to get back out on the pitch. I played my best football in the Championship and I'm looking to the future, that is where I want to be and the club wants to be. "I want to play week in, week out and use this as a great opportunity, which it is. The situation at Preston meant I couldn't get any games under my belt so I'm happy to get playing again at Coventry. "Relegation was probably difficult for the club last year but judging on the signings so far the club is aiming to recover fairly quickly. "It is really positive to go to a club which wants to move forward and bounce back. The quality of the signings has been very impressive and with the amount of players who have stayed at the club, we will be a top outfit."
