Giles Coke has apologised to Bury for his altercation with club captain Steven Schumacher in the Shakers' 3-2 win over Yeovil.
After being hauled down by Glovers' defender Joe Edwards in the area to win a first-half penalty, Coke became involved in a heated exchange with Schumacher over who would take the spot-kick. Designated penalty-taker Schumacher eventually scored Bury's third goal and Coke has now expressed his regret at the incident. He told the club's official website: "I would like to issue a quick statement regarding the penalty 'incident' on Saturday, for which I have since apologised privately to the team, the captain, the manager and finally - to the Bury supporters via this statement. "When playing my emotions run high, and in my mind following being brought down, all I could think of was getting the ball on the spot and making it 3-1. I make no apology for wanting to 'win', however I am also a professional footballer and fully appreciate the need to respect the captain and manager, even when emotions are running high. "We have a massive game coming up this Saturday, and all I now want to do is get my boots on and begin to repay the faith shown in me by (manager) Richie (Barker), Shirty and just as importantly - the Bury fans."
