Offers for Lucas and Ameobi, but Kenton let go

David Lucas and Toni Ameobi have been offered new contracts by Leeds United, but Darren Kenton has been released. Following Leeds United's failure to win promotion to the Championship, manager Gary McAllister has settled on his retained list for next season. Goalkeeper Lucas has been handed a deal after making six appearances for the club since his arrival at Elland Road last September. Young striker Ameobi has also been offered a 12-month contract after featuring twice in the first team last season and also enjoying a spell on loan at Scunthorpe United. But McAllister has decided to release defender Kenton, who made 16 appearances for Leeds after originally joining on loan from Leicester City in January. Alan Thompson will also be off the books next season after the 34-year-old midfielder announced his retirement from professional football.
