Hughes ruled out for Rovers

Bristol Rovers have suffered another injury blow with the news that Jeff Hughes is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering ankle ligament damage. Hughes, who joined Rovers on loan from Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day, suffered the injury while making his first appearance for the club in the reserves on Monday. Fellow new signing Wayne Andrews also suffered similar misfortune making his full debut against Yeovil at the weekend and will definitely miss the rest of the campaign with knee ligament damage.

Disappointing

"We wanted to play Jeff as he hasn't had a lot of action recently," boss Paul Trollope told the club's official website. "Everything looked good for half-an-hour as he had a good influence on the game and scored a good goal, but then he went in for a tackle and injured his ankle. "We think it is ligament damage and it looks as though his season is over. "It is disappointing because we were looking to add to the squad and finish the season strongly. "We were delighted on Thursday when we brought in two players who had the pace, quality and attitude we wanted in the positions we wanted. "It was all looking rosy, but as the last three days have unfolded it has all gone a bit sour."
