Sheffield United teenager Diego de Girolamo has joined York on loan for a month.

De Girolamo, 19, who made his full debut for the Blades in the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy win at Hartlepool, could make his debut for York in Saturday's league game at Newport. Blades boss Nigel Clough told the club's official website: "Diego is going to gain some valuable first-team experience. "It is an ideal move for him and the club because should we need him he will be available to us for the next round of the JPT. "It was clear from his performance at Hartlepool that he needs to be playing games on a more regular basis and it will be far more competitive in League Two than in our Under-21s." The Chesterfield-born 19-year-old, who has an Italian father, missed all of last season due to a serious knee injury sustained while playing in a friendly for Italy Under-18s.
