Minstermen delight Worthington

York manager Nigel Worthington believes his side's hard work is being rewarded as they held on to earn a 1-0 win over Torquay.

Will Hayhurst scored the decisive goal with a deflected drive in the 10th minute but they were made to work hard for the points with the visitors threatening in the second half. The victory has seen the Minstermen climb back into the play-offs and Worthington has challenged his players to keep their run of six successive wins going. "We started the game very well for the first 25 minutes and got our goal," he said. "The last 20 minutes of the half we were a little bit untidy and sloppy in our play but we got that sorted at half-time. "It would have been nice to get another goal to kill the game off but we managed the game well. Some might say the goal was bit lucky but I always say if you don't shoot you don't score and something like that can always happen. "We have only had three blips in terms of performances over the course of the season and we are being rewarded now for all the hard work that has gone in. But we've got to keep it up. We have got seven games left and we have to see where that takes us."
