York have signed Danny Blanchett following the defender's release by Burton.
The 25-year-old has penned a one-year deal ahead of City's return to the npower Football League next term.
Blanchett, who counts Peterborough, Crewe, Stevenage, Hereford and AFC Wimbledon among his former clubs, made 14 appearances for the Brewers last season.
Manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York: "He's a player I've always liked and he gives us strong competition."
Mills has further secured his defensive options by handing new 12-month contracts to Jon Challinor and Chris Doig.
