Jarvis loves Gulls' new style

On-loan forward Ryan Jarvis has been impressed with the way Torquay play football under manager Martin Ling.

Jarvis, who has made 10 appearances for the Gulls since making the temporary switch from Walsall last month, is part of a Torquay set-up pushing for automatic promotion from League Two. And he stressed that an ability to adapt their game to that of their opponents has been a key factor in the Devon club's surge up the table. "We like to get the ball down and play a bit of soccer. We're not too keen just to lump it long up to Rene (Howe). To be honest, with some of the players we've got at this club it would be silly not to use them and play it on the ground," he said. "There's a lot of good ball-players at the club and a lot of young players who like to play that way. "We can mix it up if we need to, and we might get it up the pitch in the early stages of a game, but really the way we play is along the ground and it's worked a lot for us - we've been dominating opponents and getting results."
