Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning said he was left with a "sore throat and pounding headache" after seeing his side blow a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Ross County.

Accie’s run of nine games without a win looked to be coming to an end as they scored twice in the opening 18 minutes through Jason Scotland and Dougie Imrie.

But Ross pulled a goal back before the break through Craig Curran and then Michael Gardyne snatched a 72nd-minute equaliser as the visitors salvaged a 2-2 draw.

Canning, who decided against bringing himself on from the bench, said he was disappointed with the missed chance.

He added: "It was very frustrating and I have a sore throat and pounding headache after screaming them on from the touchline.

"From two up you should see the game out but this is a young group of players and they have learned a lesson and should handle it better in the future.

"We haven't dealt with two crosses into our box and that's disappointing but we need to play further up the pitch and put less pressure on our defenders."

Meanwhile, Ross manager Jim McIntyre was delighted with the way his side recovered to salvage a point and ease themselves further away from the relegation zone.

McIntyre said: "It was a terrible start and we gave away poor goals. But overall we created good chances and I thought we would go in at half-time level.

"The reaction from the players was great though and it was important to get the next goal at two down.

“We clawed ourselves back into it and happy to take a point."
