Rangers forward unwilling to agree to transfer of contract

Sky Sports sources understand Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty is the latest player to refuse to have his contract transferred to the newco. Lafferty joined Rangers for £4million in 2008 and scored seven goals in 22 appearances for the Ibrox club last season. But the 24-year-old, who has endured a difficult relationship with Rangers boss Ally McCoist, is believed to have objected to the transfer of his deal to Charles Green's new company. Rangers are expected to be playing lower-tier football next season with Scottish Premier League clubs planning to reject their application to join the top flight following liquidation. Green had warned players he intended to sue players and the clubs who hoped to sign them if they attempted to avoid transferring their contract to the newco. But that has not stopped Lafferty joining Jamie Ness in refusing to agree to a contract transfer. Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker have already raised objections to doing so, claiming there was a lack of information from Green about the changes taking place. Sone Aluko and Rhys McCabe have also stated they are unwilling to have their contracts transferred.
