Marseille have moved five points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after Andre-Pierre Gignac's last-gasp winner gave them a 2-1 victory at Caen on Saturday.

The game had looked to be heading towards a draw when Yrondu Musavu-King scored for the visitors in the 84th minute, cancelling out Alaixys Romao's effort 10 minutes earlier, but Gignac lashed into the top corner in the 93rd minute.

Bordeaux's 1-0 defeat to Reims on Friday night allowed Marseille to create breathing space at the top with the victory, although Lille can reduce the gap to four points if they beat Lyon on Sunday.

Montpellier climbed to fifth - moving level on points with holders Paris St Germain in the process - with a 1-1 draw at Nice, but it could have been even better for them after Lloyd Palun's 90th minute strike pegged them back.

Hilton had put Montpellier 1-0 up with 18 minutes remaining at the Allianz Riviera, but they just fell short of holding out for all three points.

The draw was still enough to move them above Metz, though, as Les Grenats slumped to a poor 3-0 defeat at Evian, who have now moved out of the drop zone after claiming their third win in a row.

After an uneventful first half, Cheick Doukoure put through his own net to hand the hosts the lead after the break before Daniel Wass doubled their advantage with a penalty and Gianni Bruno completed the scoring with 10 minutes to go.

Bastia had no such boost as their defensive woes continued with a 2-0 defeat to Lorient at the Stade Armand Cesari, which sees them slip to 19th place.

Les Blues have now conceded 13 goals in nine games after Jordan Ayew's volley was deflected into his own goal by Mathieu Peybernes just after the restart and Gilles Sunu doubled Lorient's advantage in the 62nd minute.

The victory ends a four-match losing streak for Lorient and gives them a three point cushion over their hosts.

Rennes also gave themselves some valuable breathing room above the dogfight at the bottom of Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Lens at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.

Paul-Georges Ntep's double was enough to see them move a point and a place above Lorient.

Lens, meanwhile, slip into the bottom three on goal difference behind Caen as their winless run extends to five matches - with PSG up next after the international break.
