Costa Rican forward to take in spell in France, alongside Sunu

Arsenal have sent new recruit Joel Campbell on loan to Lorient, while Gilles Sunu has returned to the French outfit on a permanent deal. The Gunners landed Costa Rica international Campbell earlier in the summer following a protracted chase. They believe a spell in Ligue 1 will aid his development and prepare him for life in the Premier League. The 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign with Lorient.

Moving on

Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed that Sunu has linked up with the French side for a second time. He took in a loan spell at Lorient in 2010/11 and has now returned to the club on a full-time basis. The 20-year-old has failed to force his way into the first-team set-up at the Emirates and has been deemed surplus to requirements. A statement released by the Gunners on their official website read: "Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to wish both Campbell and Sunu well in Northern France, and thank Gilles for his contribution to the club."
