Monaco defender aware of mounting interest

Cedric Mongongu is aware of reports linking him with Blackburn Rovers and admits he could be lured away from Monaco. Speculation in France has suggested that the defender is drawing admiring glances from England, and from Ligue 1 giants Marseille. The Congo international is willing to consider a switch elsewhere after slipping out of the French top flight with Monaco last season. He insists he will not push for a summer exit, but is open to the idea of making a move to the Premier League. "I am hearing so many reports and claims about me through the papers, but I am still a Monaco player," said Mongongu.

Fantastic

"I have a contract until 2013. I am only 22 years old and I have a long future ahead of me. "Blackburn would be a good opportunity, but staying with a very good club in France can also be fantastic. "Let's wait and see what happens before the 31st August, when the speculation will stop." It is understood that Monaco will demand around €2.5million (£2.3m) for Mongongu.
