Augsburg have announced the termination of the contract of Michael Thurk by mutual consent and the striker has joined Heidenheim.

Talks taking place over the potential loan signing Moravek

Augsburg have announced the termination of the contract of Michael Thurk by mutual consent and the striker has now moved to third division side Heidenheim. The 35-year-old had been surplus to requirements at the Bundesliga club for the first half of the current season and the decision was therefore taken to scrap the remainder of his deal. Thurk had six months left with Augsburg, but, instead of waiting for the summer, he has been allowed to join Heidenheim in the winter transfer window. Augsburg general manager Andreas Rettig told the club's official website: "We have now cancelled the contract of Michael Thurk. It was by mutual consent. "We are delighted to have been able to find a mutual agreement with Michael Thurk. It was the best thing for everyone involved." Thurk said: "Even though the final phase of my spell at Augsburg was not fine, in the very end, my feelings about the club are positive.

Negotiations

"I had three-and-a-half very good seasons at Augsburg. And I would be glad should the club manage to stay in the top flight this term." Meanwhile, Augsburg are in talks over the possible loan signing of Schalke midfielder Jan Moravek, according to the Czech Republic international. He told Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper: "I would enjoy joining Augsburg, no doubt. I am looking to find a club that would allow me regular match action. "We are currently in negotiations. But nothing has yet been signed." Rettig said: "I am unable to confirm a deal has yet been decided or agreed. Jan Moravek is a very interesting player. We had already been looking at him at the start of the campaign." Keep up to date with all the latest transfer news on Sky Sports News Radio.
