Espanyol have confirmed that they have signed Samuele Longo on loan for the season from Inter Milan. The Blanc i Blau have been looking for a new striker throughout the summer and have now landed the player they hope will lead their front line this term. After the successful campaign enjoyed by Philippe Coutinho at Espanyol last time out, Inter were quick to agree to loan Longo to the same club. "Samuele Longo has become the sixth signing of Espanyol for the 2012/2013 season," the Spanish club announced in a statement on their official website.

Loan

"The young Italian forward will join the team on loan from Inter, where he has come through the ranks in recent years, and after loan spells at other Italian clubs. "Longo has passed a medical and has officially become a member of the squad." Inter signed Longo from Treviso's youth set-up in 2009 and he has since had spells at Piacenza and Genoa before making his debut for the Nerazzurri in the last game of last season. The forward has appeared for Italy at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 international level. Espanyol have already signed Diego Colotto from Deportivo, Sergio Tejera from Mallorca, Wakaso Mubarak from Villarreal, Joan Capdevila from Benfica and Simao Sabrosa from Besiktas this summer.
