Manager giving new Rovers duo time to adjust

Blackburn boss Steve Kean says it could be up to three weeks before new signings Mauro Formica and Ruben Rochina are ready for action. Rovers snapped up Formica, a 22-year-old forward, from Argentine side Newell's Old Boys in a deal thought to be worth £3.5million, with the club beating Ligue 1 club Monaco in the race for his signature. And Rochina gives Kean another option up front after the 19-year-old was recruited from Barcelona's 'B' team. Blackburn failed to find the back of the net against Tottenham at Ewood Park on Wednesday night, going down in a 1-0 defeat despite gritty displays from Mame Biram Diouf and Jason Roberts. But Kean admits Rovers fans will have to wait to see his new attacking options on the pitch. He said: "The two players have only just arrived. Ruben came in on Wednesday. "Formica arrived only a couple of days ago to start training. He has been off and had a break for five weeks. So I can see it being two or three weeks before they are involved."

Fitness

Meanwhile, Kean will monitor the fitness of Jermaine Jones ahead of the Premier League match with Wigan on Saturday after he suffered a back spasm against Spurs. Kean said: "He was not moving comfortably, so we took him off. You have to make sure he isn't out for a couple of weeks." The Rovers boss was frustrated not to take something from the Tottenham clash after a hard-working display from his side. He added: "I was pleased with the performance but disappointed with the result. We deserved a positive result of some description."
