Gregory backing for Connolly

John Gregory confirmed Paul Connolly has Crawley's full support after a 2-0 win at MK Dons halted a run of six straight defeats.

Connolly, who only lasted 10 minutes before being forced off with a groin injury, is contesting his FA charge following his altercation with a Brentford fan on Tuesday night. First-half goals from Andy Drury and Mike Jones lifted the Red Devils six points clear of the relegation zone and surely ended MK Dons' play-off hopes. Gregory said: "We'll support Paul 100 per cent. "I think he's been in touch with the PFA and we'll stand by Paul no matter what happens, although we don't know when the FA will hear his appeal." On the game Gregory added: "We had one chance early on with Andy Drury and he scored whereas we've been in those situations many times over the previous six matches and have not taken the chance. "There's been some good team performances over the last six matches, but we haven't got the results from it because we haven't taken the opportunities that we got. "Andy had a long time to think about that chance and that's the sign of a quality player because so many things go through your mind. "So many decisions got through your mind and Andy's just kept composed and put it in the net. "Then when we went 2-0 up there really was only one team that was going to win it." Crawley went ahead in the seventh minute when Jamie Proctor's pass sent Drury through one-on-one and he finished calmly past Donbs goalkeeper David Martin. The visitors were gifted a second right on half-time when Jordan Spence missed Mark Connolly's clearance and Proctor delayed before giving Jones an open goal.
