Bristol Rovers striker Matt Harrold is edging closer to a return to action following a six-month spell on the sidelines with a knee injury. Harrold, who required surgery after damaging a cruciate ligament at Gillingham in September, is back in non-contact training and is hopeful of making an appearance before the end of the npower League Two campaign. "I'm having to tell him to be careful because we have got right to the final stages with Matt and he is in good shape," boss John Ward told the Bristol Evening Post. "Matt is letting me know every day that he wants to get back out there and to be involved again. He's a good worker, but we have to absolutely spot on with him because the last thing I want is for Matt to get this far and then go and break down because we've rushed it. "He is an enthusiastic footballer, which is great, but we are using care and consideration to look after him. He has a great attitude and that rubs off on other people." Fellow long-term absentees Garry Kenneth, Matt Gill and Adam Virgo have all been at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall recently in a bid to boost their own recoveries.
