Club want Welsh goalkeeper to stay on

Crystal Palace are set to offer goalkeeper Lewis Price a new contract, manager Dougie Freedman has revealed. The 27-year-old Wales international currently provides cover to regular No.1 Julian Speroni at Selhurst Park. However, Price has impressed on his outings in the Carling Cup for Palace this season and will be rewarded with the offer of a new deal. Freedman believes the keeper, who spent time at Ipswich and Derby before arriving in South London in 2010, is the perfect back-up to Speroni.

Talks

"We're going to open talks with Lewis with the view to getting him to sign a new deal," the manager told the Croydon Advertiser. "He hasn't ever let me down this season when he has come into the side and I've been impressed with him. "We want to have quality cover in each position and I think Lewis has a bright future ahead of him. "Julian isn't going to play forever and one day we'll need to replace him."
