Seasiders striker looking to regain starting place

Blackpool striker Billy Clarke is looking to reclaim his place in Ian Holloway's starting XI after returning to fitness. The 23-year-old marksman missed the club's entire Premier League campaign due to a cruciate knee ligament injury. Clarke is on the road to recovery having featured in both of the Blackpool's pre-season outings so far. He proved he has not lost the scoring touch with a goal against Oldham and he is upbeat on the upcoming campaign.

Competition

"It's a good feeling to get a goal," said Clarke. Hopefully there are many more to come this season from me. "There's good competition up front. Hopefully, if I work hard on my game and do well in the pre-season games, the manager will give me a chance. "It's just nice to be playing again. I still don't feel 100 per cent. I'm not quite as sharp as I can be. "But the pre-season games will help improve my sharpness. "We've got a few more games before the start of the season and hopefully we'll be ready when it comes."
