Bristol City midfielder Marvin Elliott is closing in on a return to the Robins' starting XI.
Elliott has made brief substitute appearances in their last two games, but City boss Gary Johnson doesn't want to rush him back too soon.
The former Millwall man suffered a groin injury during the 2-0 victory at Plymouth in late January and is hoping to complete his first 90 minutes since the incident for the reserves on Tuesday.
Former Yeovil Town manager Johnson told
skysports.com that it is important not to bring Elliott back before he is ready to return.
He said: "He is close to full fitness, but he hasn't quite managed to complete a full 90 minutes for the reserves. He has got another one today (Tuesday) which we hope will see him go the distance.
"It was quite a big injury that he had, so we have to make sure that he isn't rushed back and we will give him time, but at the same time we will try to get him back into the first-team as soon as possible."
Big ask
The Robins' play-off hopes took another blow on Saturday after they drew at home to Preston, but Johnson has targeted Burnley as the side to aim for as their hopes of reaching the play-offs begin to fade.
He said: "It is a big ask, but it is still possible mathematically. We would have to rely on others dropping points, but that is also possible as a lot of them are playing each other.
"We've got a couple of big games coming up, with the last game of the season against Burnley the key because, with all due respect, they are the ones everybody are chasing now.
"That is mainly due to the fact that Cardiff still have games in hand over everyone. Burnley have had a great season, but we have to wait and see whether they drop sufficient points to let one of the chasing pack, such as us, into the play-off places."
