With a goalkeeping crisis currently representing the height of his worries, Boothroyd has moved to bring in Peterborough shot-stopper Mark Tyler on a one-month loan deal.
Veteran keeper Mart Poom and rookie Scott Loach are both sidelined with long-term injuries, leaving Richard Lee as the club's only senior option between the sticks.
Tyler had been the Posh's longest-serving player, making over 400 appearances for the club, but has found first-team football hard to come by of late.

The second new arrival sees Darren Ward return for a second spell at Vicarage Road, also on a month-long deal, seven years after leaving for Millwall.
He is currently on the books of Wolves but has made just one substitute appearance for the Championship leaders this season.
As a result, he will now be hoping for more regular action with the Hornets after answering their call to fill a defensive void.
Boothroyd turned to Ward after seeing another loanee, Sam Sodje, forced to return to his parent club.
The defender aggravated a knee injury on his Watford debut against Sheffield United on Saturday and is now back at Reading receiving treatment.
Sodje was only signed last Friday to provide cover at the back but has been forced to leave after less than a week with his new team-mates.
