Ardley: We deserved more

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley was disappointed to leave Cheltenham with only one point after a much-improved second-half performance.

Matt Taylor gave Cheltenham an early lead, but Adam Barrett's leveller four minutes before the break saw the momentum shift and the Dons were on top for much of the second period in a contest which finished 1-1. "We are disappointed we didn't win the game" Ardley said. "Cheltenham edged the first half, causing us one or two problems that we didn't solve. "We got in at half-time, told them how we thought we should solve the problems in the second half and we did it well. "I don't remember them having any clear-cut chances, or many attempts on goal and we carried a good threat. "Adebayo Akinfenwa missed a good chance and we had a few others. One was blocked that was going in and we felt we could go on and win the game at that point. "It was a good, resilient and hard-working point and all-round I think everyone should be pleased with how we played." Cheltenham boss Mark Yates was the happier of the two managers after watching his side start well before losing their way as their winless run extended to six games. "I am satisfied with a point and I thought it was a decent game," Yates said. "In the first half I thought we were the better team, creating better chances, but they were always a threat with their front two, but we could have been a few goals ahead. "I was disappointed to concede before half-time and we couldn't quite match the quality in the second half. "We are finding it hard to score the goals we'd really like, but we'll keep working at it and the movement in the first half was outstanding. "We couldn't get Raffa (De Vita) back into the game in the second half and it became scrappy. "Akinfenwa was a real threat for them, but we dealt with him well and Jack Deaman was outstanding at the back on his Football League debut."
