Ardley salutes changing luck

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley was delighted with his side's change of fortunes after they snatched a 2-1 win at Newport.

The Dons looked to be heading for a fifth straight defeat when goalkeeper Ross Worner dropped the ball into his own net in the 65th minute. But goals in the 85th and 88th minute from substitutes Charlie Sheringham and Kevin Sainte-Luce sealed all three points for the visitors. Ardley said: "We're delighted, it's been a really tough couple of weeks for us. We lost four on the trot but only one of them we deserved to lose. "We played really well against Oxford, Portsmouth and Bury but didn't get the results we wanted against any of them. "So when your goalkeeper makes a mistake like that and he hasn't had a shot to save you start wondering if something's going on. "I was thinking I must have walked under a couple of ladders or something. "But credit to the boys I thought they gave everything we asked of them on a very difficult surface. "Our subs have come on and made a really big impact and that's exactly what you want. "We play really well but we just never seem to be able to score the first goal. It's not for the lack of trying, we attack teams but they just weren't going in. "We had three or four one-on-ones before they scored that could have given us the lead. But I thought we thoroughly deserved it because we were the better team. I am absolutely delighted."
