Wombles draws anger Ardley

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley called on his side to up their game despite making it five games unbeaten against 10-man Burton.

Debut goals from Gary Alexander and Michael Symes ensured the points were shared despite Albion having Zander Diamond sent off for a head-butt on Pim Balkestein. After two wins on the bounce, the draw at Kingsmeadow was the Dons' third consecutive stalemate - a statistic which does not sit well with Ardley. "We've got to stop dropping points - we can't afford to," said Ardley. "I'm not taking too many positives. I know there is some and we're still unbeaten but I set my standards high and I think that's two points dropped. "I think at Port Vale recently it was a point gained but I still felt if we had got it right that that was two dropped and the Wycombe game is certainly two dropped. "So that's six dropped points in the last three games. I set my standards high and say that it's not good enough but at the same time we're five unbeaten so let's make it continue. "People have got to start doing what we ask them to do in the team. There's one or two in there who revert to type and start playing the game they want to do. They need to start picking the mantle up and do what we're asking them to do for the sake of the team." Deadline-day signing Alexander opened the scoring for the Dons after 27 minutes before Burton debutant Symes hit back nine minutes later to even things up. Ardley's team looked the most likely to bag a winner after the break but despite having their cause aided by Diamond's straight red after 76 minutes, it ended all square.
