Adams delighted after win

Port Vale boss Micky Adams was delighted to grab a 2-1 win at Northampton despite the off-field problems at the club.

Vale have had a transfer embargo placed on them, preventing him from sigining Chris Birchall. But goals in either half from John McCombe and Sean Rigg put them in control before Adebayo Akinfenwa reduced the arrears. "I can't say it's easy but it's nothing I haven't seen before," said Adams. "It's a problem but my focus is just trying to keep the players away from it if I can and keep getting results. "All I want the players to do is keep focusing on results and performances, keeping themselves right and the off-field stuff will sort itself out eventually. "I really don't want to comment on the conversations I have with the powers that be. All I will say is that I was given the go-ahead to sign Chris Birchall but unfortunately there's a transfer embargo placed on us because we've not paid a bill."
